Wilson Family Genealogy

This is a two-part Index.
- The first part of the Index is an alphabetical listing of the surnames of families that we know had at least one member marry into the Wilson family.
- The second part of the Index, reached through clicking on the appropriate surname in the first part, provides a generational outline of the direct ancestors of the person known to have married into the Wilson Family, starting with the first known ancestor in America.

If we have information going back to the first person with a surname (or the first person whose descendants acquired the surname) to come to America, generation numbers are provided, with the first ancestor in America being Generation 1. If we do not have information going back that far, generation numbers are not given.

Over time, the spelling of surnames has been inconsistent and adaptable. Various spellings of the surname known to have appeared in the surname line are shown. However, for convenience, the modern spelling is used in this genealogy, except when there is strong evidence that an individual used a particular variant spelling. In those cases, the spelling used by the individual has been retained.

Different family lines with the same surname are grouped together. If there is a known connection between the different families before the move to America, that connection is indicated.

This Index does not necessarily include every person in the Wilson Family Genealogy with each surname. Except as described below, only the direct ancestral line of individuals with that surname who married into the Wilson Family are given. There may be additional individuals with that surname shown on the actual Collateral Family Genealogy pages.

Links from the names of women who married into the surname line being followed will take you to that woman's place within her own surname line.

If an individual's name is not a link, we do not have additional information to share on that person.

Famous, infamous, or otherwise interesting individuals known to be in a Collateral Family are also shown. Although the famous, infamous, or otherwise interesting individual's direct line will be shown, addtional information may or may not be given on that person or on each individual in that person's direct line, depending upon what additional information we might have and/or have had time to prepare.

In order to protect the privacy of living individuals, information is given on this website only for deceased individuals. Therefore, if the person for whom you are searching is still living, that person will be identified only as "Living." In recognition of the longevity of many Collateral family members, we allow 110 years to pass from a person's birth before assuming that the person is deceased.
