The following prayer, written by Juliet M (Wilson) Hill in 1933, is said to have been read in Geneva, Switzerland, at one of the Peace Conferences ending World War II. This transcription is from a copy that was in the possession of Fern Eleanor (Cook) Lynn.
A Prayer For Peace
Is Jesus in our congress and does he hear
The appropriations for armaments year after year?
Is this the way our rulers read our savior's last command,
'Go ye into the world and destroy your fellow man?'
Why all this preparation to take men's lives away
When Jesus in his vineyard is needing men to-day.
The nations are awakening, disarm is in the air.
Our hearts with love are filling, to God we make our prayer.
His word is sure that wars shall cease to earth's remotest bound.
Oh, that every Nation's great and small the whole wide world around
Would lay hold on God's promises and would not let him go
Until with peace He blessed the world from whom all blessings flow
We're trusting now the time has come so long ago foretold;
When Nations shall learn war no more and on God's promises lay hold.
