Description of, and Search Aids for, the Index to Collateral Family Members by Name
- This Index includes members of families that had at least one member who married into the Wilson family. This Index does not include all members of these Collateral families. It includes only those members of the Collateral family who have been reported to the Wilson Association or who have been discovered through research, and who have additional information about them given on this website. For example, if a couple had 12 children, one of whom is an ancestor of a person who married into the Wilson family, and one who served in the Civil War, only those two children are included in this Index.
- Individuals are listed alphabetically by surname.
- Married women are listed under both their maiden and married surnames whenever both names are known.
- When the maiden surname of a married woman is not known, she is listed only under her married surname.
- When neither a person's first nor last name is known, that person is not included in this Index. For instance, if the given and maiden names of the wife of a particular Collateral family member are not known, she is not listed in this Index as "Wife of," "Mrs. So-and-So," "Name Unknown," or any comparable designation.
- When there is more than one person with the same name, attempts have been made to provide additional identifying information.
- In order to protect the privacy of living individuals, information is given on this website only for deceased individuals.
Therefore, if the person for whom you are searching is still living, information on that person will not appear on this website and the person will not be indexed. In recognition of the longevity of many Collateral family members, we allow 110 years to pass from a person's birth before assuming that the person is deceased.
