From Burhans Genealogy, page 320:
"Levi Pawling was colonel in the Revolutionary War, commanding a Regt. of Ulster Co. militia; a Member of the Provincial Congress; first Judge of Ulster Co., N.Y, appointed May 1777; and Senator from New York, 1777-82. His will, on record in Surrogate's Office, N.Y. City, dated 27 Feb. 1782, filed 19 March 1782, speaks of his wife Helena and of his four children, Albert, Henry, Levi, and Margriet."
