Generation 6:
Elwood F Bateman
Elwood F Bateman-6 (Estella Moore-5, Philinda Mead-4, Ruth Wilson-3, Alexander Wilson Jr-2, Alexander Wilson and Jane Armour-1) was born about 1904, probably in USA, NY, Orleans County. In 1920 he was a farm laborer. He is listed twice in the 1920 census: once with his mother and siblings in USA, NY, Niagara, Lockport; and once with, apparently, his employers, Floyd and Eveline Mead in USA, NY, Niagara, Royalton. It appears that he remained in USA, NY, until sometime between 1920 and 1930. Information about him indicated that he had "disappeared."
Although these identifications are not yet certain, the 1930 census shows an Elwood Bateman, born about 1907 in USA, NY, living in USA, NE, Lincoln, Wallace, in the household of Ray and Vivian V Raney. His occupation at that time is shown as farm laborer. The 1940 census for USA, NE, Keith, Ogallala, shows an Elmer Bateman, born about 1905 in USA, NY, boarding in the household of Will and Iva May Ingrahm or Ingraham. He was employed as a Euclid driver on the Kingsley Dam construction. An Elwood F Bateman is buried in Beth El (or Bethel) Cemetery (Section D, Lot 80, Space A), USA, WY, Laramie, Cheyenne. This Elwood F Bateman was born on 29 Dec 1903 in USA, NY, had been a taxi driver, had lived in USA, WY, Laramie, Cheyenne, for 13 years, and died on 16 Oct 1956 at the age of 52 or 53 years.
