"August 10, 1949 - January 26, 2010
"Sharon A. Porretta, age 60, of Gasport, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Medina Memorial Hospital. Born August 10, 1949 in Lockport, she is the daughter of * * * and Shirley (Wilson) Belfield.
"Sharon graduated from Roy-Hart high school in 1968 and went to work for the Federal Government at the Pentagon as a Stenographer. She stayed a year and then came home to work at the Niagara County Health Department as a Stenographer for 14 more years. Sharon married * * * Porretta May 21, 1981 in Middleport. Through her husband, Sharon received Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and devoted her life to helping others find and receive Christ. She helped in the prison ministries by writing letters and sending Bibles to many people throughout the world. Sharon experienced many illnesses throughout her life, but God allowed her to remain and continue with the ministries that she loved and was very thankful for. She touched many lives. Sharon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockport.
"Sharon enjoyed crocheting, making jewelry, playing piano, fishing, photography, gardening and making floral arrangements. She had lived in Gasport the last 22 years, previously of Lockport.
"Her loving and devoted husband survives her: * * * Porretta. Dear mother of: * * *. Daughter of: * * * and Shirley (Wilson) Belfield of Middleport. Sister of: * * *. Daughter-in-law of: * * *. Sister-in-law of: * * *. She is also survived by a dear friend of 53 years: * * * of Lockport. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
"Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010 from the funeral home at 11:00 am with the Pastor Abe Dueck officiating. Interment will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Gasport.
"In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the First Baptist Church, 140 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY 14094. Please make memorials to the church's Building Fund or to their Missions Fund."
