"Missing Plane Found in Arkansas; Six Are Dead
"After an extensive air and ground search, the Cessna 206 airplane piloted by Don Johnson of Clarksville, AR, was found Tuesday morning, July 11, 1989. The plane (as reported in last week's Leader) had been missing for 11 days. All six on board were killed on impact. The plane burned following the crash.
"The Cessna was found 104 feet below the top of a 2,400 ft. ridge, four miles south of Pettigrew, AR, in the Boston Mountains. Killed in the accident were Don and Cindy Johnson, their children, Sarah, 10 years; Samuel, 9 years; and Don's parents, Vinton "Bud" and Twyla Johnson, former residents of the Malvern, Glenwood, and Henderson area. The family was apparently on their way to South Dakota for a vacation when the crash occurred.
"Relatives in this area are: Mrs. Ralph Raines of Glenwood, sister of "Bud"; Mrs. Don Primrose of Malvern, sister of Twyla; Mrs. Lyle Houts of Hamburg, sister of Twyla; * * *.
"Services were held Friday, July 14, 1989 for the Don Johnson family and Saturday, July 35, 1989 for Bud and Twyla, all at the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville, Arkansas."
