"MARY MADISON MILLER SOLARI, born in Toledo, Ohio, on Aug. 27, 1925, passed away suddenly at her home on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007.

She was raised in Dexter, Mich., and graduated in 1947 from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She was married in 1950 to Jack Solari and had three children.

She held numerous jobs throughout her career, including bookkeeper and office manager at several businesses, including the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association in Sacramento, Calif., and three custom home builders in the Chicago, Ill. area. Macular degeneration led to her retirement in 1995, when she moved to Green Valley.

She loved to travel and her favorite adventure was a three-week African safari with her [siblings]. She was a member of the Elks Lodge #2592, was active in her homeowners' association, and a member of TGIS, a local singles club whose many activities and excursions she enjoyed and always looked forward to.

She'll be remembered for her creativity and her competitiveness, her courage and her love.

Mary is survived by her [sibling] and younger sister Nancy Dunphy * * *; her three children, * * *. Also surviving are three adoring [grandchildren].

Friends are invited to a celebration of Mary's life at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, at the home of her [sibling].

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mary Solari to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, 11435 Cronhill Dr., Owings Mills, MD 21117-2220."
