Note from the Wilson Association Historian: This is a replacement stone, and neither date is correct. Alexander Wilson (Sr) was born in 1735; Alexander Jr was born in 1764. Alexander Jr died in 1848. Based on an examination of other older gravestones, it appears most likely that the "1" in 1818 resulted from a misreading of a time-worn "4," and that the incorrect date of birth was because of a completely worn off date.
