Alvinzie Hunt Chamberlain, Elsie C, Ella F Weeks, and Annabella "Belle" Kirby


Alvinzie Hunt Chamberlain-4 (Cynthia Wilson-3, Alexander Wilson Jr-2, Alexander Wilson and Jane Armour-1) was born in Jul 1839 in USA, IL, Lenawee, Woodstock. He served in Company K of the 8th Michigan Infantry during the Civil War, and lost his right leg above the knee during the Second Battle of Bull Run, USA, VA, Prince William County. He was primarily in business with his brothers in USA, MI, Wayne, Detroit. In 1870 he was a wholesale liquor distributor; in 1880 he was the bookkeeper in the family cigar store. In 1900, shortly after marrying his second wife, he was farming. In 1910 he was a bookkeeper for the Detroit Department of Public Works. He died from prostate cancer at the age of 73 years on 8 Jan 1918 in USA, MI, Wayne, Detroit, and was buried in Woodmere Cemetery (Section G, Lot 58), USA, MI, Wayne, Detroit.

Elsie C was born on 12 Jul 1848 in USA, MI, Kent County. She died from "lung fever" (pneumonia) at the age of 25 years on 30 Apr 1874 in USA, MI. She was buried on 2 May 1874 in Woodmere Cemetery (Section G, Lot 58), USA, MI, Wayne, Detroit.

Alvinzie Hunt Chamberlain and Elsie C were married about 1865, probably in USA, MI. They had the following children:

Ella F Weeks (Sarah McIntyre and John Tilton Weeks, James Weeks) was born about 1849 in USA, MI. It is not presently known when or where she died or where she is buried.

Many researchers have believed that Elsie was actually a nickname for Ella. The date of Alvinzie and Ella's marriage, found in Michigan State records, shows that these are two different ladies.

Ella married first, Peter H Vandyne/Van Dyne.

Alvinzie Hunt Chamberlain and Ella F Weeks were married on 21 Mar 1882 in USA, MI, Jackson County. They had the following child:

Annabella "Belle" Kirby-3 (Mary Jane Rouse and John Kirby-2, William Kirby-1) was born in Jul 1843 in USA, NY. She died at the age of 80 years on 16 Jan 1924 in USA, MI, and was buried with her first husband in Prospect Hill Cemetery, USA, MI, Cass, Cassopolis.

Belle was the niece of Rachel Ann Kirby, the first wife of Alvinzie's brother, Francis James Chamberlain. She was also the sister of Jane Elizabeth Kirby, the second wife of Francis James Chamberlain.

Belle married first, Daniel B Ferris.
