Mary's Journal Entry

Fine day. Lodi, Ohio. Finished up cars. I washed. Got started 5:20 toward Mo. Drove until 10 o’clock when we climb in bed in a clover patch next to woods near a ravin as the Lady called it. Had a caller when Juanita was cutting her corn. He asked what we were doing there. Juanita told him a lady said we might camp there & he said all right it was my wife.

Dear ones at home

Oh but this is a hot day. oh how I sweat washing out towels &c for Mrs. B- & worst of all was two pair of coveralls oh. oh. but they were heavy. Mrs B- would have me write off her washing fluid receipt so I send it home. Bill has gone down town to get his Spedometer fixed guess they will be on the bum any way we want to leave here about four o’clock that was the plan at noon

if it works out we will go as far as we can before dark. we have everything packed again except our lunch I baked a double batch of bread this A.M. expect some will sour if it stays so hot. I have not seen much of Akron only been about one block to the store. our car all a part & Bills on the go most of the time I could not get to see Bessie I am sorry but can’t help it well I don’t know where I will mail you the next card. we are feeling fine & dandy. Mrs. B- has a little grand-daughter with her this week (Virginia) just about Fern’s size. Now I will ring off for this time. suppose you rec. the P.P. [parcel post] what shape was it in? O.K. I hope

Love to you all Mom & Dad
