Helped do housework & wrote home P.M. Phoebe, Ben & I went to flower show then out to Leon’s for dinner. Steve come from office. when we got back Dr. & wife, Bill & Juanita here.
Letter Sent Home
Dear ones all
Well you see I am out of tablet paper [Letter written mostly on opened up brown paper bag] but I will write just the same. received your letter of the 12th was forwarded from Tempe. you sure did have a time with Grandma i glad the children are better hope you are all well. your letter came the 19th so you see it takes a week for a letter to come to Calif. & I suppose it takes a week for one to go home so if you want to ask any question it will be two weeks before you get an answer. I keep thinking about Xmas tell me quick what you think. how is poor Sadie ii as well as the rest of neighbors. well Dr. Wilson iii took charge of my case yesterday he examined me from my eyes to my knees. it is my teeth that give me the most trouble he Xrayed them found no ulsers at roots but an outside infection thats what makes my gums so sore I just suffered awfull my whole upper gums would just ache so hard & it got on my nerve so I lay awake most of the night & I tho’t I could not stand that. he says my teeth are better than store teeth & thinks when the infection is out they will tighten a little he has me rub my gums hard with equal parts water
& Peroxide if they don’t get better then he is going to try something else. don’t know what he is going to do with my throat I am hoarse & have to clear my throat so often. makes me think of Hatt iv well if Phoebe v keeps on talking I will never get this wrote. Dr says my lungs are alright yet my heart not what it should be. I have blood pressure sugar in urine expect to hear blood analysis today a Dr. from Labatory come down & took sample too don’t know why he butt in so I don’t think there will be much change from my own Dr. vi he (Harry) is going to learn me to make my own tests. thats what pa was going to do so fast last spring & never made the first test. he says diet is my only salvation so it will be my same old story only he is going to cut me down on meat now I guess that is enough about myself. he took Xray of Pa’s hand the second finger was broken & has knit allright in the hand are two pieces of loose bone he thinks too thats why it don’t heal don’t know what they are going to do try & take them out or just let them go & see what nature will do. for I don’t think pa will let them do much. I wish you all could see the pictures he took too. I have not seen my teeth yet. Phoebe to store (due any min.) this P.M. we intend to go to Flower show then to Leon’s vii to supper. have not seen J- since the night we landed here Dr. drove us to the beach Wed. P.M. (I think) we saw the ocean did not stay long about 10 minutes he is in office from 10:30 to 2:30 so made him hustle, its 12 mi. to B- we are all just as good as can be little Helen viii had that same trouble R & W- ix had Dr. H. called it “intestinal grippe”
pa got me new tablet will try to keep a supply on hand now
well here goes the first one of new tablet yesterday morn. Steve x had to go down town so Pa & I rode along it was noon when we got out of office, so we went & got our dinner at Rest. then took in a very small part of town & Woolworths got some postcards &c (they’ll be on road soon) then we took St. car back oh but it was hot down town I got me a sweater for evenings if it gets cold enough I will have to get a coat of some kind. Bill is looking to buy a lot & put a garage on. we have been hanging around pa wants to help him he intends to build it himself. Pa & Steve was over to Dr’s last night said J- was busy knitting her a sweater I think I told you Bill & her was at Harrys. some times I call him Dr. & then again Harry it is both the same person they call him Dr. Harry the most of time here well Phoebe is hustling with dinner she wants to start early this P.M. Pa is going to drive our car. he unloaded it this morn. now I will go & set table I am getting so I can help some. wash dishes &c, sew carpet rags some P. wants to make some rugs. I am not hurting myself at anything. I slept good last night the first night since here (Mon) commenced to get tired. Bill went to P.O. & said he would tell them to transfer our mail. don’t know whether he did ot not. we have only got the one letter. its 5 miles to P.O.
