very good morn. left 7 for L.A. bad roads between Vista & Oceanside -- got there 9:30 got oil & gas then on to Santa Anna 12:10 had our dinner & bo’t blankets left 1 P.M. arrived at Steve’s 4 P.M. cloudy all day B & J called eve. read letters 15 letters & cards waiting i

Dear ones all -
Well I am realy ashamed we have not sent a thing for Xmas not even for our dear little children well if I could talk with you I could make you understand. I being shut in the 6 rainy days did not help the matter any. did not get a chance to get Post cards. Well we left J.P.’s this morn. 7 o’clock & got here to Steve’s at 4 P.M. stoped in Santa Ana one hr. to eat dinner bo’t a pr. of outing blankets. cool. nights more cover. we had 10 in. of water on level out there. Phebe sent 3 of your letters to me when we got back here 15 letters & cards waiting so I will have some writing to keep me busy one letter from Aunt Stell yes. the carbuncle me come O.K. also the bond checks (thanks) & papers. we have not had time to look them over yet. but I tell you Calif. is not all sunshine. not when it rains any way. Steve has a great saying every thing that is not as he likes it to be why he will say “thats unusual for California.” I guess I was a little hard on him when we got back today when I said he must not tell me it never rained more than a couple days at a time then warm again. we saw snow top covered mountains. they were pretty all right. pa is waiting to take this to the letter box hope you are all well we are both fine. been gone 3 weeks Mon. since test.
