commenced with sprinkles rained harder all day Harry & wife here to dinner eve. just poured all even. 10 o’clock still at it streets full of water, warm

Letter Sent Home


Happy New Year to all

Well this has been a wet day started to sprinkle this morning & has been coming harder as the day advanced is raining like suds now 8.00 P.M. streets full to curbs in lots of places, no sewers watter all goes off on top last Thursday the streets were full & I asked Ma is she did not want to take a ride to see the watter so her & Phebe were game went over to Leons about 40 blocks some sight to see the cars plough through I let Lizzie swim where it was deepest told them the Engine had stoppe to scare them sure enough it began to spit I just got to a high spot when it did stop I got out to wipe the watter off of er Lungs every time a car passed the waves went clear over my Island sat there 15 or 20 minutes before we got started & it raining some Harry & wife here for dinner to day did not bring children as they do not want chicken pox went as Harry tok us to Passedena yes. P.M. to get seats to see the Flower Show or Perade tomorrow. expect some crowd if it dont rain (looks bad now) expect to go any how so there will be too there nice & warm would like to go out & wade in watter doors & windows open

Yes I do remember about the Apples & F wine I got of Luther but could not say how much of either he probably knows there may be other things I have forgot if it is all balled up let it go. I will see him we can fix it some way. too bad about the calf but nothing but a calf.

too bad about Fred Dehn how is his arm Maby he would like to milk a cow next summer poor cuss enjoyed out visit with J P Romig Drove team there plowed & pulverized has 6 acres of oats sown 8 or 10 to sow yet about 1/2 plowed may go back & help if ever stops raining lots of places to go yet Calalalane Riverside Mt Wilson & C Ostrich Farm Lizzie goes fine

Dr tested yesterday no sugar so that is fine says she sure is grit to diet says dont see why she cant get entirely away from that do not know if he means the Disease or the Diet

My hand has not opened since it closed soon after getting here will have to pound on wood ma is across the table writing cant reach her so will hit the Table

tell Russell to take good care of that air gun & not let it shoot any one. you sure had some wind as we see by papers they keep the papers here full of Burok & Obenchain trial & bandits & holdups seems all of the scalawags in the world come here to winter

10 P.M. Jan. 1, 1922

Dear ones all.

Well I have been writing letters all day what time I had I called pa for not helping me out I wrote 5 & got them sealed up before he had chance to read them just to punish him the 6th wrote to Ellen he got that they he wrote you guess he was little ashamed. I wrote to Aunt Stell, Grace C. Mabel W. Lulu W. Uncle F.S. Aunt Ellen. Olive & this is 8th not so bad for the first day of New year. ought to write four more besides several cards. we got the bond check O.K. say Florence pay Aunt Ellen for the oranges I wrote her you would & don’t worry your head over Lutes account it has went so long it can go longer just forget it. glad you all had a good time Xmas. oh but it can rain in Calil. can beat N.Y. 10 to one did you get the post cards (pict.) sent O a couple also Uncle F.S. will say good night & get to bed one rainy day gone of the new year. S- has made no more sales. bum business All to bed but B & I & P, she is reading

Love to all. How is everybody & the weather. snow or no snow. Baker’s have moved went yesterday but don’t know where. she is sure glad to get “Star”
