fine morn. sunshine & warm camp fire kept all night. B took pict of camp

after break (bare head & in shirt sleeves) packed car & moved (10 o.c.) headed for Venice got gas & oil on way saw woman planting in flower bed men driving team in shirt sleeves also 8 men husking corn (N.Y. style) in s. sleeves rolled on thru Redondo & stopped at beach at Venice saw Len a few min. then went up to Santa Monica went out on pier took pict. of Pelican’s

then along Ocean shore stopped side of road covered car with canvas put on old house dress & Pa overalls & went in the Ocean Pa was watching me with his back to Ocean when slap a big wave struck him on the back knocked him down & skined his toe I did not laugh oh no. we only stayed in about 10 min. I had bunch under my jaw & did not want to get chilled back we hustled to car & had a rub down & got on dry clothes

Pa built fire & we got dinner of pork chops & cabbage made tea then broke camp & went farther down shore & picked up periwinkle shells about 2 qt. Pa found a nice “star fish” & a "devil fish"

stayed till sun down. the lowest tide yet headed back to Len’s but could not get away before we had supper beef stake new potatoes & fresh tomatoes for supper. 8 back to Steve’s. Bill & Juanita & Baker & wife i there, nice bright moon light. the ocean prettier today than we had ever seen it silver & blue just sparkled.
