Letter Sent Home
Dear Ones All.
here I am sitting in the car waiting for pa to get a map or guide or something of the sort so we can find where we want to go. we went out to Nettie’s Wed night & left this morn. had a dandy visit & nearly made a dress (out of old one) for her got it where she can finish it. she made us promise to come back Mon. we expect to leave Los A. Sun. night or Mon. morn. here it is the first part of May & we so far from home. we have a new house kaki canvas & stove (grate) ax, canteen, Bill & J- have moved they have a nice little house out in the direction of Sycamore Park we intend to go out to night & camp beside their garage this will be our farewell visit with them it makes Bill itchy to have us go but at present he has a job. he has to be at work 7 so has to leave the house 5:30 (real handy to work don’t you think). we found Fred Phillips folk tues. & to our great surprise she when a girl used to be one of us at parties & knew & inquired about all of our school kids as well as all on Coomer Road she used to live at Bill Lewis’s (Clints grandfather) we stayed there to dinner (supper) & spent even. then went toward Venice & camped wed morn. we went to Len’s he gone up north so did not stay there long. then went on to Redondo. pa just come & said the report was that Yellowstone Park will be in good shape about the 15 of May (dirty shame) we wont be there to go thru gates first well thats the way can never carry out plans exact. Now before I get off the track pa took the box to Depot tues. morn. & they said it would go thru in 14 days (freight) I don’t expect you folks will not be much interested but we wanted to send it home. (so pass your opinion in your letter after you get the box & tell us what the freight was (please) I expect the P.P. box from Valley Center arrived we will send some more pictures too before long. do the children like to get them we saw a Rubber tree today with 100 ft. spread 56 years old 16 ft. circumbrance smallest place below the branches pa tried to get pict. time will tell. pa is pacing the street so expect he wants to go on. he come with three maps or some thing so will ring off got the “Stars” O.K. thanks
Hope you are all as well as we are. no sugar on whole wheat bread so far. my old armes are bum guess sewed yes. to much
Love to you all Mom & Dad
P.S. Pa made a mistake he ment Yosemite Valley instead of “Yellowstone” so maby we get there yet.
