Fri May 26 -- windy morn. left camp 8:30 for Oakland wind blew gale nice road just out Sacramento crossed causeway 3 mi long bridge i at lunch in Dixon free camp. Eucalyptus trees & toilet then on to Vallejo (farming most of way cattle) ferried across bay ii then rolled on over hills & valleys to Oakland & camped 6 o’clock city camp .50 (punk)
Letter Sent Home
Dear ones all.
We went to the Fair grounds to doings, Wed. P.M. saw cow boys ride buckers & races &c &c & bucking bulls talk about bronco’s bucking they can’t keep up with bulls. & one bucking cow I tho’t we would die laughing & to see cow boys bulldog steers they would ride along side of steer (on the run) & slip out their saddle & land on the steers neck twist their heads around till they threw them flat & tied him the man that did it in the shortest time got a prize & the old clowns with their donkeys acted just like circus. will try to remember all we see when we get home. yes. we went down street to parade then went to 49ers camp that was just like a midway had to pay 55¢ each to get in & if you wanted to see anything inside of that pay, pay, pay. we saw what we could & come out good & tired. then we went in 5 to 50¢ store & enjoyed it very much (humbug) now before I forget direct to Tacoma, Wash. Gen. Del. we may get there sometime. we expect to be in San Francisco over Sun. maby longer we are all packed ready to crank pa just took last look at 3 baby monkeys the real baby was born Sun. cute little thing & believe the old ones are real mothers. we are camped in McKinley park (free 7 days) to make a guess would say 300 camps they filled the regular camping grounds then let them in park it looks like a tent city. pa waiting. so long feeling fine (both)

am sending some cards &c our permit to Yosemite &c. I am afraid Ill loose them. expect you have the freight box. the walnuts are for you folks grown in Cal.
