left camp 8 timber a little ways then sage brush & sand for 30 mi mountainous & some farming got eats at Ellensburg & Ellen’s dress. i got to Vantage Ferry 2 P.M. hot in valley. ii after crossing Columbia R. when we got up on ledge miles & miles of level land sage brush & rocks near Quincy grain but it looked sick (deserted houses) at Quincy iii nice orchard with alfalfa (great) fixed shoe & pumped tire. then rambled on wheat 12” high. acres of orchards dead rabbits where they got water were fine. one orchard 320 acres fine. on we went ate our supper just outside soap lake iv on a hill then rolled on when pop went tire. drove in among sage brush & fixed up then went 9 mi to Wilson Creek v camped in back st. with others. dance in town jazz music cloudy & hot day 145 mi
