bright day. rested fine. car still there deserted fan belt come off had to put in new pin I wrote home about 10 when we left in Coere D’Alene, Ida. mailed letter & got maps on over mts & thru canyons. might have went over bank only for “Colby’s guiding hand” i drove along side of lake had give Lizzie drink from lake. had dinner in woods beside of road then toddled on. roads pretty rough 10 mi then dirt but smooth not much farming stopped at zinc mine pa went in. ii on thru Kellogg 3 mi out, “Lizzie” went lame I stayed by her while B went back to town got cone, little over an hr we were on our way again thru Wallace where the Elks were having doings. outside town supper thru Mullen and up mts 8 mi 7 of them Liz on low. on summit camped just across Ida-Mont line. 85 mi

Somewhere on the way Thurs. June. 22 - 1922
Dear ones all,
?? written you since Mon. morn. breakfast. well we got a way from travels about 10:30. last night we slept in Idaho & slept so hard we are lame we made our camp in a yard beside the grange hall it faces the west at the back are 9 steps to the back door I am sitting on the 4th step in the warm sunshine scribbling this. we were about ready to travel this morn. pa has to lift her leg to start her in the morn. well the fan belt flew off so he made an examination & the pin was bent so she went crooked & so she had to be fixed had to take the radiator off. I helped take the ?? I washed ?? no day before we had a blow out put in patch & went on tho’t in Odessa we could not get a “Hood” there but no so pa put in more patches & was in hopes to get to Spokane. when 4 miles out we found we could not get there & stopped right where we were when it went. about 11 A.M. pa caught a ride back to town & bo’t a “Sound” tire made in Tacoma. he got ride back. I got dinner & 1.10 P.M. we were on our way as if nothing had happened. In Spokane we found a Hood dealer & got two new tires on rear we have one Mohawk Bill got for B- in Akron, O. we put that on 550 miles back it begins to look shakey ?? an old tire & put it on ?? it’s going yet can’t tell how long but with our new tires (extra) we feel quite safe. we drove 128 mi. yes. we toddle along as we like never over 20 mi. the roads since leaving Seattle are gravel & 4 in. fresh. it makes driving miserable. we have seen more deserted farms acres & acres of orchards about 5 years growth & between rabbits & shortage of water for irrigation have died. where they have water orchards are fine alfalfa & vetch & gardens strawberrys galore. we are going ?? right way with them in ?? must make test soon & see what they’r doing to me. one thing sure I am feeling dandy. pa says I am a “brick” I wont say what he is. well he is putting the radiator on had to run all over neighborhood to find bolt or pin. you count up how long it takes a letter to go thru & if you can’t get one to Gardiner Mont. by July 4th wait for new address where is Aunt Stell we may go thru Col. Springs. hope you are all well. ?? this housekeeping. Ma & Pa
