Left our prairie camp 4:20 drove 12 miles to Vaun then drove some more tho’t it would never get light our clock was one hour ahead just before getting in Encino we had break. we wanted to cook break. gased up at Encino N.M. on & saw salt wells B. took pict

come thru Abo pass rough traveling rocky mountains is right on we went toward Socorro, N.M. over mountains make your hair raise traveling at dusk crossed Rio Grande & on about 2 miles to Socorro free camp late enough would have slept well only for mosquitoes 1.46 had hot tomollys for dinner

in a hustle I will write a few lines we camped on the Prairie last night 12 mi east of Vauhn drove 122 mi yes. all feeling fine slept fine last night near two men camped watching their sheep (1300) Pa wanted to get a "cayote" but did not even hear one. some prairie we rode 35 miles over a trail not road & saw only 1 house on trail 2 houses back perhaps 2 or 3 miles & 4 homestead huts a rail road. we go slow because we have to. hope you are all well “Mountainair” is our next stop, 50 mi. maby stop there tonight. Love to all, Ma & Pa
