slept fine so cool & fresh built fire (plenty of wood) B took pict of camp & B shaving

left camp 8:40 about 1 mi & enter the Datil National forest reserve on stopped at a camp saw porcupine Bill got leaf for spring on the man in camp went on & filled cant. & had good cold drink out of White House spring (10:30) crossed the "continental divide" 8300 ft handed the mail carrier a card to Florence. just over the divide stopped & picked mistletoe on thru mts & plains men with leather on each leg called "schaps" women with sun bonnets Quemodo, N.M. Bill got new front spring oh but the roads were rough on we went & camped under cedars with in 9 mi of Ariz line 70 mi

Dear Ones at Home
We wont get to Tempe as soon as we expected. we go to the Petrified forest & Grand Canyon first would not be surprised if it would be a week yet. but we are having a fine time just the same. the boys stop & shoot hawks & prairie dogs & view the mountains. great sights I say we camped in among the cedars on the plains. will climb mount. the first few miles about 10 I expect. we all slept just fine last night & are all in the best of spirits. we are just out of a little town where we payed 40ยข for gas Springerville is our next big town ?? away if we dont soon ?? want get there today [remainder illegible]
