boys went over cars we girls walked to P.O. & top of Canyon oh how pretty it was in the morning sun boys met us & had a look too P.M. 4 o’clock all got in Bill’s car & went 7 mi to Hermit Cliff back to camp 8 were good & tired 14 mi
Letter Sent Home
Dear ones all -
I don’t know how much time I will have to write but I will do what I can I did not write you yes. I did not get time. we made a grand dash for the "Grand Canyon" yesterday arrived last night about six o’clock (Sept. 21) we intend to stay around here today & tomorrow to go to the bottom of Canyon & back takes two days & a small fee of $18.00 each & eats extra don’t know how many of us go to the bottom (think we will soon be at the bottom at those rates) $6.00 each for one days trip that takes you down half way can’t say about that trip either. well I can tell you better next time. we are all feeling fine. don’t mind the riding only when the roads are rough I am sending some cards home pa took some pict. but he tho’t they might not be good. we have taken in about every thing so far day before yes. we only traveled 28 mi. yes. we did not leave Flagstaff till about 10 o’clock & come 85 mi. roads good most of way. the weather is just fine. so warm day times & good & cool nights around Flagstaff (85 mi. from here) frost has killed potato vines & what few gardens they have. we got fresh veg. yes. morn. carrots, turnips, beans cabbage. we have good supply of bread & butter some canned goods every thing is very expensive up here so bro’t with us. excuse this paper my tablet is in suitcase. it will take about three days with fair roads to get to Tempe after we leave here. we are very anxious to hear from home hope you are all well. oh for some of your dill pickels have had no cucumbers all the way have tomatoes 10¢ lb. hope you are all well write all news
