nice. wrote letter to Kate i pa made cupboard iiafter fixing tire left 3 P.M. only went 9 mile to Dunwinger had 3 tubes fixed & camped by garage painted cup. left 6:20
Letter Sent Home
Dear Ones all.
I will begin & finish later pa is trying to find a leak in tire the pesky thing bothered us yes. P.M. this morn. it was flat. pa supposed he had it flixed that’s the way. while pa was at tire this morn. I commenced to write to Kate Phillips he finished first then borrowed saw & & began to build a cupboard we got the box in Merced, hinges & nails in San Frisco built cup. in Black (name of place) I can tell better where he paints it after it is done. say there is a little black fly about as large as a hen louse & believe me they pester the gizzard out of any one. say now before I forget I sent 10¢ for enough pumpkin pie meal for two pies & had it sent to you. maby you get it & maby not we’ll see I saw add. in Oakland paper. Well we found Kate’s mother she is with some friends she looks fine we had a great chat we spend from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. decoration day with her. then we went to camp we tho’t it foggy that day next day it was worser but we road around City out to the Golden Gate & thru park then got the 2 P.M. Ferry back to Oakland & hunted Amelia Sintzel Otto, Tom’s sister. had to go on the Island about 5 mi. to Alameda & found her 2:30 so we lost no time we stayed there to supper she lives with her youngest daughter (Clara McGrady) in eve. one of her boys come in (she has 5 children) we visited till ten then camped in a vacant lot. next morn. we went back at 7 and took their pict. & fooled around till 9.15 when we gave them the final hand shake & rolled away we drove about 100 mi to the town I mentioned. it appears we are not to travel today we have only come 6 mi. but we have a new cupboard all lined with oil cloth. Oh but the fields of grain mostly barley we expect to see the combination machines at work farther north if we sit here long enough I expect they will be cuttung the piece opposite 100 acres in it. I bet it is good & hot here in July & Aug. hope we wont be here we expect to be in Tacoma in two weeks one thing sure we wont be at Yellowstone the 20th opening day maby better not so much snow in there. pa is ready to roll so on we went 9 miles today how long will it take us to get home. we had to stop at a little town Dunnigan & have 3 tubes valconized camped by the garage slept well this morn. we were rolling along at 6:20 oh what nice fields of grain saw one field that had machine in hope we can see one at work they cut, thrash & sock the grain cut 27 ft. swath (so people say) we are now in “Arbuckle” town about size of Wilson. have come 10 mi. fine cement roads & level. almond orchard all around here. hope you are all feeling as we do.
