nice cool cloudy morn. drove to Garden City to camp g. & got our break. got gas in Ingalls stopped on way saw them heading wheat pict 9 on more wheat. thru Dodge City, little misty imagined “Liz” was going lame in right hind legs stopped in Mullinville & looked at it but ok so rolled on thru Greensburg got gas turned south just before Pratt, Kan wheat not cut yet been so wet. on over hills thru cow trail to Medicine Lodge after dark drove & turned & turned & drove at last found a place to turn out of road any way. pa was quite ruffled because the place had no more lights & this camping after dark was done of course I was to blame & even for the thunder storms in the night, but we were under an Elm & did not blow away corn cut with hail when morn. came & we were dry, felt better. he went to Farmers house got milk eggs & cucumbers. 173 mi
