Mary's Journal Entry


Left our fine camp 8:20 our time arrived in Hannibal, Mo., 9:43 - just across the Miss R. called at the store and saw Mr. John Miller then went to the house and saw Mrs. Miller Juanita’s father sister had a good wash & visited about half hour then went on 40 miles Perry, Mo, to Juanita Uncle Henry Painter to dinner then drove on thru Mexico, Mo. & camped in a man’s pasture field with mules drove only 75 miles ate watermelons & took pictures at Painters all autos in Perry park in the middle of street

Dear Ones

We are just across the Mississippi river Juanita is talking with her uncle dont know whether she will go to the house. he has a shoe store we camped in a Free camping ground last night after riding 135 miles quite different from the hog pasture the night before. well I did not finish this we have rode 40 miles since I commenced it. we are now at Perry to Juanitas uncle Mr Painter oh but the road was dusty & the wind just right so we got it all. if all goes well we expect to get to Bills folks Sat. night. this camp life is fine.
