Mary's Journal Entry


in morning my eyes & lip was all swollen up well we left camp after having our eats & men looking over cars 8:10. Followed out state line 14 mi Oka on north & Texas on south finally come to end of road & turned in Texas in a ranch road nearly 7 mi till we came to the other gate then 7 more to the road leading to Stratford, Tex some country can’t raise anything but cattle & wheat corn poor stopped at Stratford for gas, oil & fixed coil points (11:30) went 35 miles from Stratford to Dumas saw three cars all that way stopped in Dumas Tex got eats netting on thru Parainus (?) sand hills across Canadian river with very little water but lots of red sand white sand hills on one side of river & red on the other hills galore rained a little on to Amarillo, Tex got more eats & out west to a free camping ground 122 mi B shot 2 jack rabbits this p.m. stock no end

we are way out here we slept in Oklahoma last night then drove 14 mi on the state road Oka on one side & Texas on the other. left road because it ended & we had to come thru a regular Texas ranch 6 mi till we come to the other gate some country. feeling good. Love to all, Ma & Pa
